How we do it
Our success is built on a very simple concept: buying better so we can sell better. We have buyers across the country, so we can capitalize on the market’s fluctuations. And, in the end, the consumer benefits: the initial price is as low as possible, as is the profit on the vehicle. Price is an important factor, but consumers want selection, service and quality. The inventory is very diverse: two- and four-door sedans, station wagons, trucks, mini vans, SUVs. New vehicles also arrive every day.
We use leading edge technology and the inventory is always analyzed. Every time a vehicle is purchased by a new buyer, we instantly replace it so that other visitors have just as much choice. We analyze every new trend as it emerges. The manufacturers don’t tell us what to buy. Our clients do!
Come and visit!
When you visit H. Gregory, you’ll discover how easy it is to find your next vehicle. Our 3000 vehicles are accessible 7 days a week. Just come to the showroom, and a sales representative will show you around. First, the representative will find out what you need and direct you to the vehicles you want to look at. Our advisors are not the usual commissioned salespeople who’ll try to sell you a more expensive vehicle. Here, the price is clearly posted. The price you see is the price you’ll pay. No bargaining, no hidden costs, and no surprises! Whether your heart is set on a small economy car or a large luxury sedan, the sales person’s salary does not fluctuate. This prevents pressure tactics and allows us to focus on satisfying you. You can instantly get into any vehicle you’re interested in and, if you want to give it a test drive, we register it with the gate, and off you go!
We really are different!
All of our vehicles receive a mechanical and structural inspection. They are all late model vehicles (2002 to 2007), they are all guaranteed, and many are still covered by the manufacturers’ warranties.
And, according to the latest surveys, our customer satisfaction level is 99.97%. Last year, over 80,000 people paid us a visit, and we sold more than 15,000 vehicles, and that makes us proud.
H. Gregory has risen to become one of the top 5 Quebec businesses with the strongest growth, according to the magazine L’Actualité.

Founded in 2003, with sales in the area of 15,000 used cars a year (2006), used car specialist H. Gregory has become the hands down leader in its sector in Québec and across Canada. No other company that specializes in automobile reselling can match its skyrocketing growth.
Since its inception, H. Gregory has invested over 60 million dollars in outfitting its vast superstores located in Trois-Rivières, Montreal, Laval, Carignan and Saint-Eustache. Since may 2008, H. Gregory has added one new superstore, in St-leonard (Metropolitain Blvd) . The company has over 600 employees and generates more than 400 indirect jobs.
To grasp H. Gregory’s stunning rise to market leader, take a look at the career of founder Greg Hairabedian, who has been working in the automotive sector for many years now.
Mr. Hairabedian’s career as an entrepreneur began when he started Vente d’auto HG, a business that specialized in reselling used vans, located on highway 640 in St-Eustache. HG quickly became THE reference in its specialized market for the whole Greater Montreal area.
The business man then pinpointed a unique business opportunity: selling used vehicles (purchased in Québec at good prices) in the United States, which has a booming used car sales market. He bought used cars—often almost new—directly from dealers, then resold them at his U.S. auctions and to other U.S. auction houses and used car resellers. Mr. Hairabedian operated this line until the Canadian dollar began to surge in 2003.
However, the unflagging entrepreneur had once again identified a new niche and developed a marketing concept that was unique in Canada, drawing on the American car auctions he had gained experience with in his previous business initiative.
In 2003, Encan Direct H. Gregory began operations following a simple principle: give Québec’s consumers the best possible prices by holding public auctions every Sunday. The company’s name was inspired by both the company’s vocation, and the way it acquired its supply of used cars. However, demand for a multitude of vehicles in every category was so strong and pressing that the company quickly abandoned auctions to focus on dealing in used cars from multiple sources.
This success is largely built on what has become the company’s maxim and a business principle: “To sell better, you have to know how to buy”. From this perspective, H. Gregory’s success is built on its buying power and ability to build its inventory with meticulous care by selecting every vehicle based on high quality standards and market trends, seasonal demand and the consumer’s changing habits. Without a doubt, it is a winning formula, as is clear from the company’s performance and consumer’s confidence.
